I'm so excited to get share my garden and kitchen with you! Hopefully you'll visit regularly for garden and cooking tips, musings on being in the garden, and simply just to check in.
Coming from a long line of gardeners and preservers, I started gardening in high school, grew tomatoes and herbs in pots of the balcony of my first apartment, and the rest is history.
Never without a garden from then on, I decided to turn an avocation into a vocation. I completed a Masters degree in ornamental horticulture while working as a perennial technician on a landscape crew, an intern at the Chicago Botanic Garden, and a supervisor for an interior plantscape company. I taught urban farming at Gateway Technical College for 13 years and directed the Gateway Urban Farm.
I've spent the last 25 years practicing my passion as a garden writer and teacher. I live on three acres of oaks and hickories, perennial and herb gardens and, of course, large vegetable and kitchen gardens.
